TO SWALLOW OR NOT TO SWALLOW: ANSWERS TO THE MOST COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT SEMEN

To swallow or not to swallow? This is where opinions differ. Some say, “It’s just water,” while others are simply disgusted by the thought of swallowing semen. Here are the most common questions on this subject.

All men love it: a blow job is the perfect way to pamper them, but many are not sure if they should swallow cum or not? We have collected all the important questions on this subject and shed light on this “dark realm”.

What does semen consist of?

The amount of ejaculate is between 2 and 6 milliliters. Each milliliter contains 35 to 200 million sperm (only 0.5% of the total ejaculate). A sperm only reaches about 60 micrometers in length. There are only about five calories in the ejaculate – about the same as in chewing gum.

About 20 percent of semen consists of liquid, cloudy prostate secretion. This is a saline solution containing potassium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, citrate, and spermine. Prostate secretion is mildly acidic, with a pH value of 6.4 to 6.8. The remaining 70 percent of semen is alkaline and contains fructose (as a source of energy for sperm movement). The remaining 10 percent contain sperm. In general, healthy sperm has a pH value of 7 to 7.8, so it is slightly alkaline.

Semen also contains various hormones, such as dopamine (“happiness hormone”), norepinephrine (to raise blood pressure), tyrosine (to calm down), oxytocin (“tenderness hormone”), vasopressin (vasoconstriction), estrogens (female sex hormones), pheromones and water. According to a study by the State University of New York, the mixture of hormones has an antidepressant effect. However, this has only been studied on absorption through the vagina (not oral or anal sex).

Can nutrition change the taste of sperm?

This rumor, while common, is not true. If a man gets the idea, “I’m going to eat pineapple today, so my girlfriend will like my sperm,” we unfortunately have to disappoint him. Nutrition can change the taste or smell of sperm, but it is almost impossible to control this process. The ejaculate has a characteristic odor caused by the sperm it contains.

Can diseases be transmitted by swallowing semen?

Yes, they can. Just like vaginal secretions, semen can contain viruses of venereal diseases. Therefore, unprotected oral sex can also lead to infections such as HIV, syphilis pathogens, gonorrhea, hepatitis B, chlamydia or HPV. Therefore, you should only swallow semen if you are absolutely sure that your partner is healthy. Otherwise, it is better to use a condom.

The risk of getting infected with oral sex is lower than with “regular” sex, but less does not mean there is no risk.

Is there an allergy to sperm?

The German Allergy and Asthma Association (DAAB) reports that although only 60 cases of semen allergy have been reported by official medicine in Germany, the number of unreported cases is probably much higher. In addition to skin irritation, vomiting, diarrhoea, shortness of breath and allergic shock are typical symptoms. Men can also develop an allergy to semen (autoimmune reaction).

Anyone with a “sperm allergy” is not allergic to the fluid, but only to the protein in the sperm.
